In the TV Series, REVENGE,
Chronicling the life of a Distraught Emily Thorne: SEASON 1, EPISODE 7 "Charade”,
As Hamlet said to Ophelia, "God has given you one face and you make
yourself another." The battle between these two halves of identity who we
are and who we pretend to be is unwinnable. (This is referring to Shakespeare's
famous tragedy Hamlet. These words are said to Ophelia, Hamlet's girlfriend, in
anger and frustration). Just as there are two sides to every story, there are
two sides to every person. One that we reveal to the world and another we keep
hidden inside. A duality governed by the balance of light and darkness. Within
each of us is the capacity for both good and evil. But those of us who are able
to blur the moral dividing line hold the true power.
I
am an ardent lover of the Law and Scripture and I always believed that: “no matter who is President, Jesus Christ
is King”. There are times when solitude is better than society, and
silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more
alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual
strength for labor in His service. We ought to muse upon the things of God,
because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. Truth is something like
the cluster of the vine: if we would have wine from it, we must bruise it; we
must press and squeeze it many times. The bruiser's feet must come down joyfully
upon the bunches, or else the juice will not flow; and they must well tread the
grapes, or else much of the precious liquid will be wasted. So we must, by
meditation, tread the clusters of truth, if we would get the wine of
consolation therefrom.
From
the MEDITATIONS OF MARCUS AURELIUS, ELEVENTH BOOK:
Pg. 98 of 128 we read: “To grow together in a matter of a good correspondence
and affection; but not in a matter of opinions. They that shall oppose thee in
thy right courses, as it is not in their Power to divert thee from thy good action,
so neither let it be to divert thee from good affection towards them. But be it
thy care to keep thyself constant in both; both in a right judgment and action,
and in true meekness towards them that either shall do their endeavor to hinder
thee, or aleast will be displeased with thee for what hast done. For to
fail(either in the one that give over ,for fear, or in the other to forsake thy
natural affection towards him, who by nature is both thy friend and kinsman) is
equally base, as much as savoring the disposition of a cowardly fugitive
soldier”
#FREEBESIGYE:"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a timewhen we fail to protest."― Elie Wiesel
“Having then a great high priest, who hath
passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God; let us hold fast our
confession.

For
we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as we are, yet
without sin” .

There is a very dangerous notion that the NRM
apologists and their boss subscribe to; “that every critique no matter how true
is wrong”. I accept, Let me the fool
here, but accept this rebuttal. The EC boss Badru Kiggundu, Uganda Police and
their architect Mr.Museveni + 1,
Andrew Mwenda, among the many have
built some frenetic agenda—you are welding our nation
march head-long into tyranny and despotism and the cattle following are quite
aware of this, and yet enthusiastic about, where the cattle train is going.
Now lest you think that my angst is with just Mwenda (and a large part to it),my
biggest angst is with everyone who applauds and empowers the ugliness.Mr.Museveni
will not repudiate having the interests of the privileged future taken care
of(while the majority are taken for a ride; it hurts that his personally
infatuated YES-MEN can wake up to this heart-wrenching reality)The singular
explanation I have for such kinds of people though is; they have long been
repudiated from Freedom and independence and Museveni’s operating procedure of
do as I say has sunk in them so deep. But in the end, the world will know the truth.
Apparently, truth is the most valuable thing, we have to economize it.There
could be smatterings of Justice needed to start it off to the camp of
Freedom—where we will see the Barrack and Michelle Obama of Uganda walk with ease to state
house to serve by the will of the people.
There
has been a very false claim led by Andrew Mwenda that Dr.Besigye didn’t win the
election but only won a ‘propaganda war’—I totally refute those flat-out lies.
The good news, my Skepticism
is a refreshing alternative. Museveni’s candidacy was so dreary—the dreariness
begun with a move to have himself as a sole candidate for the NRM Party for the
5th term in a row; that’s when his best ally the former Prime
Minister, John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, was pushed out of the limo and told his lifts
in the limo are done with(If you remember, he has since been looked at as
an alien)—this is something you should relate with Andrew Mwenda;do you
remember when you called Museveni a Villager and you were imprisoned? You sure
have learnt nothing and forgotten nothing. Where did you even find the nerve to
question what the FDC has learned from losing four times? I will call
Mr.Museveni what he is and please tag along because this shoe fits you
perfectly, Andrew Mwenda. He is a tyrant and pathological liar—even if the whole
country goes to the voting booth and votes him (which can never happen), I can
never murder my conscience empowering the ugliness. You are a reflexive liar
and he is a clinical narcissist; yes you two make a good team, kudos! Let me
make this a little easier for you to understand; in the words of Larry. P. Arn:
“Tyrants are hated because they rule by force—one of
the things tyrants have to do is longevity in office—because, as Aristotle said,
tyrannies don’t last very long—is they have to declare war on every kind of
excellence. Especially contemplative kinds, especially kinds owed to God.
Because they can’t really get their way with people who think there is
something higher than them, and they really can’t get their way with excellent
people,so they tend to do things to corrupt the people”
Dr.Besigye
has paid his dues and surely
for anyone to try and cheat us out of the hard-won Victory is trying our Patience and yet someone who can’t
afford his own lies is out here promoting the vilest gospel of foolery I have read and heard in
a long time. He enthusiastically applauded candidate Museveni and put on
a pedestal while presenting Dr.Besigye as a soar loser.Thats the biggest air of
pestilence this article is going to clear. I am one of the people who sees
hopeful possibilities (even if the Museveni government and his minions
fantastically try to blur these hopes) even when ‘others’ claim that it is going to hell in a hand basket;I will not
let cynics like you do eye-surgery on me, this I promise you. I have decided to
think of my life as a trajectory instead of plans, it makes more sense. Show me
one person who makes others suffer and I will show you who is working with him
to pass on the suffering even to other more people. Earlier in the early days
of the Presidential race, when Andrew Mwenda endorsed candidate Museveni, I
didn’t get surprised. I have gotten used to his hypocrisies that there is nothing that I take serious that
he says anymore. I was only shocked when he told President Obama to stay away
from Africa in a letter he wrote after he had just left Addis Ababa for
Washington DC.I couldn’t contain it, so I rebutted,
actually in my 2ND Letterto President Obama, I made sure he understand that there are Ugandans
who appreciate what he said while in Africa. Something that I am going to do
again in this article. Let me ask you something, do these lessons from the iconic Nelson Mandela strike you as
important? I pray I give you the best rebuttal since you had the audacity to
ask for it (If it doesn’t satisfy you, I challenge you a debate on national TV,
of your choice).I can only hope that he was compensated for his soul when he sold
it.I have no idea where this is leading but my Prayer is that my name will be engraved
upon the marble of history as one that didn’t shrink in the moment when the truth was obvious to the
discerning eye.
I
would like us to read Laurence Ferlinghetti’s poem together: “PITY THE NATION”
“
Pity
the nation whose people are sheep,
And
whose shepherds mislead them
Pity
the nation whose leaders are liars,
Whose
sages are silenced,
And
whose bigots haunt the airwaves.
Pity
the nation that raises not its Voice,
Except
to praise the conquerors and acclaim the bully as hero.
And
aims to rule by force and by torture
Pity
the nation—oh, pity the people who allow the rights to erode
My
country, tears of thee, sweet land of liberty”.
If
you are applauding what candidate Museveni and his minions have done to silence
Dr.Besigye, you are very terrible human being, much as I can bet my bottom
dollar that you aren’t having lesser nightmares. You are explicitly shoving in
a man who promises to to rule as a despot obedient only to his fickle and ever
changing whims. You are deliberately playing your lot choose tyranny either
because you are too obtuse to see it ahead of time or too lazy or too pathetic
to care. Please, implore you Andrew, do not be a lunatic: when your car is headed
for a cliff, the last thing you want is a quiet flag man.
Silence in the face of evil is evil itself:
God will not hold us guiltless. Not to
speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.
In
the word of the Scripture, Ephesians 5:11: “Do not participate in the
unfruitful deeds of darkness but instead expose them”—thus sayeth the LORD.I knows
you do not believe in GOD (I
personally heard you say it when you came to speak us when I was a University
student at Uganda Christian University, I haven’t forgotten). But I will call
your attention to the word of the Scripture in 1 Samuel Chapter 8
the strayed people made a very terrible mistake and they asked : “Give us a
king”, the people pleaded. “We want to be like other nations”, the people pleaded.
They abandon God’s way. The prophet Samuel warned Israel that there would be consequences
for allowing a king to rule over them, but in spite of the warnings—they still
demanded a king and they wanted someone other than God to protect them from
their enemies—to fight for them. They chose man to be the source of their
greatness not God. And how did it end? NOT GOOD. To me, the gospel Andrew
Mwenda is preaching strikes me as presenting to ours Mr.Museveni as a King to
whom he lays the future of each one of us unto him, I have never had a
nightmare of this magnitude and Andrew Mwenda is to blame!!
Now
allow me to first tell you about Andrew Mwenda & I: Compare & Contrast
·
Both Mwenda and I are Voracious readers
·
Mwenda is very well travelled; I am not
necessarily well travelled.
Mwenda
is very popular, I am not, and I am comfortable where I am.
·
Mwenda is a hypocrite; I am not and abhor
hypocrisy to the letter.
·
Mwenda believes Dr.Besigye didn’t win the
election; I refute and defy those lies!
·
Mwenda loves hanging in comfort zones, I
do not
·
Mwenda is the ‘old man’ of his
clan; I am the ‘young man’ of my clan.
·
Mwenda doesn’t believe in God, I DO!!
Now
listen, St. Paul to the Corinthians says: “Do not be
bound together with the unbelievers; for what partnership has righteousness, or
what fellowship has light with Darkness?” –2 Corinthians 6:14, NASB.
The
Scripture in the gospel of Luke 16:3 says: “No one can
serve two masters. Either you will hate one and love the other, or you will be
devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both money and God”
Can
a man claim Christ and turn around and cheat and steal and expect to be saved
of his sins? Accepting Christ means you are trying to follow Him. He atoned for
our sins, but He expects us to act differently. We view the trinity of the
God-Head as: one, God the eternal father, two: His son Jesus
Christ & three: God the Holy Spirit. We pray to the father in the name of Jesus Christ, we preach of
Christ, we prophesy of Christ…that our children may know to what source they
look for a remission of sins”—-Book of Mormon, Nephi 25:26.Void of any
substantial biblical moorings, people are swept away by the impassioned
rhetoric of a demagogue (PS: A demagogue is a leader who obtains power
by means of impassioned rhetoric).
PS:
I
do not write this to you as an authority figure but one citizen who strongly
believes that all avenues of truth no matter how dimly discernible should explored.
I have said this before and I will emphatically say it again. I
want to call upon all the authority figures to try and much as they can to do
this for me.About Dr.Besigye’s supporters: they want someone to protect them
and their way of life (a life very miserable and way-different from that of the
privileged few)vilifying them will not change their minds. Listening and
expressing empathy is the only path to light .Of course, doing this requires
that we face our own fears first. This is the greatest challenge we as
individuals face through the evolution
and awakening of our collective human consciousness. This way, we all win,
Peace and security wins: “ONE UGANDA,
ONE PEOPLE”. Again, do not write this as an authority figure but only
as a citizen who is very much worried and cares about his country. Where I
overstate the truth, bear with me and forgive me.And, where I am short of the
truth, I pray the LORD shines a light in those places~Grace Abaho Sr, P10 AUTHOR
